The Purgatory Bean was already cultivated in the 1600s. It became the main dish of the "Pranzo del Purgatorio", organized on Ash Wednesday in the municipality of Gradoli (VT) by the Fratellanza del Purgatorio who used this event to raise funds and other sustenance for its relief activities for families in difficulty.
Rich in proteins, starches and minerals and low in fat, the Fagioli del Purgatorio di Gradoli Perle della Tuscia are a delicious and nutritious addition to your meals. Cook them without pre-soaking, for 60-90 minutes or 20 in a pressure cooker for a quicker preparation. Delicious with just a touch of salt and extra virgin olive oil, you can enjoy their authentic flavor. They come from local farmers and are packaged in a 300g recyclable bag.
