Italy is home to one of the oldest and most prestigious winemaking traditions in the world .
Wine production in Italy dates back thousands of years, and the country boasts an incredible variety of native grape varieties, suited to the different terroirs of its regions.

Native vines are those that originate and spread in a specific territory and in Italy there are over 350 native vines , which contribute to making our wine a unique and characteristic product .
Some of the most famous native Italian vines are Nebbiolo , from Piedmont, which gives life to red wines of great structure and longevity, such as Barolo and Barbaresco; the Tuscan Sangiovese , which is the basis of some of the most famous wines in the world, such as Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino; the Aglianico from Campania, from which we obtain powerful and structured red wines, such as Taurasi and Aglianico del Vulture; and Verdicchio , Marche, base of fresh and aromatic white wines.

But there are also other renowned Italian wine regions , such as Veneto, famous for its high-quality white and red wines, such as Prosecco, Valpolicella and Bardolino, Lombardy, with Franciacorta, Pinot Grigio and Valtellina Superiore, and also Puglia, producer of red and white wines of great character, such as Primitivo di Manduria and Negroamaro and Verdeca.

But how do we recognize wines without preservatives ? They are produced with grapes grown and vinified according to the principles of organic farming, which is why they are characterized by greater naturalness and genuineness and a fresher and livelier flavor than traditional wines. To recognize them, you can check the label . Wines without preservatives must bear the words "organic wine" or "wine from organic farming". Finally, to best preserve these wines, it is important to keep them in a cool, dry place, away from sources of light and heat .

Anecdote: Alexander the Great, the great Macedonian conqueror, was a great lover of wine. During his military campaigns, he used to always carry a large quantity of wine with him, to drink in the company of his soldiers. Once, engaged in a battle against the Persians, he decided to give his soldiers some wine to cheer them up. They found the strength to continue fighting and Alexander, having won the battle, attributed the outcome to the wine.
