Fruit in all its forms
Fresh fruit is juicy, tasty for its sweetness and pleasantly tasty, consumed in any way, as a snack, blended, in a fruit salad or simply alone. But it is also able to create truly surprising and unique consistencies and sensations on the palate in dishes, if combined with foods and condiments with salty and contrasting notes.
Dried fruit is also great to take with you during the day, for example as a quick snack in the office. It is just as tasty, sweeter but with a less soft consistency than fresh fruit. For aperitif lovers, dried fruit is the base of many tasty cocktails . For those who produce tibicos , or water kefir, completely vegetable, at home , you can use it as a starter for fermentation.
But the one that is most liked by all ages is preserved fruit . I am referring to jams, preserves , compotes and mustards , which in all our homes have always been a valid solution for having fruit available at will as well as fresh, when it is no longer in season. A very valid and certainly tasty anti-waste remedy ! Even if with a lower level of some nutritional properties, preserved fruit still maintains a good vitamin and mineral intake. Furthermore, the convenience of being able to keep it in the pantry for up to 12 months makes it truly versatile , especially in sweet preparations or as an accompaniment to savoury foods.
Fruit is generally an excellent alternative to sweets and is often “chosen” precisely to follow or maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The advice is to eat at least 3 portions a day.
